November is looking forward to getting to know her father and the safety of a small town. After leaving the big apple and her bad memories for Tennessee, November starts working for her dad at his strip club doing the books. The one time she’s allowed there during club hours she runs into Asher Mayson. He’s perfect until he opens his mouth and makes assumptions. November wants nothing to do with Asher but too bad for November fate has other plans. Asher Mayson has never had a problem getting a woman that is until November. Now all he can think about is making November his and keeping her safe.

Warning 18+ sexual content and a strong Alpha Male

What I LIKED about this book.

The closeness of the Mayson family.

What I DISLIKED about this book.

Why didn't November's dad fight for November when she was a kid against her mom? I realize he did not know better but man, I wish November could have been raised by him and his family.

    Full Review

I always struggle with how to tell you about a book without killing the story for you. When I read Until November, I was in a slump. It had been going on for about a week and a half. I usually read between 5-7 books each week. During my slump, every book I picked up I could not get into the story. I was bored and then mad because books are a big part of who I am. I do not know how many books I tried to break the slump. I would open the book, read about three chapters and....

It was NOT the books. It was me. I have circled back around since November broke my slump and confirmed the books were all fine. From the first few lines, I was hooked. Aurora Rose Reynolds uses a compelling opener to draw you in. What happened to November? Was it random or will it play out to be something bigger? I have read this story hook before but Beast changed it up. I love animals but make the animal a hero too and I will adore it until the end of days.

My Hades tells a story from his childhood about a st. bernard they had that killed a dog that was trying to hurt him. The dog jumped the fence into his backyard and charged him. Hades' dog dropped that mutt dead. Never met the st bernard as she died manyyears before Hades and I met, but I love her.

Besides the greatest pup ever, what does Until November have to offer? Man candy. The alpha male Asher is a slice of heaven. I love those bad boy alphas with a heart of gold. The Mayson men were taught how to treat women by mom and be a man by dad. They are a close knit family and I want them to adopt me.
    Asher Mayson

Want more Mayson boys? You are not alone! Aurora Rose Reynolds assures us she is writing as fast as she can. All the Mayson boys will have a book and then some of the friends we met along the way will take us back into their world with their books. Get started on this series from the beginning!

I am torn between Asher and Nico.

Once there was a boy of the Bitterwater Clan of the Din'e, the Navajo People. He lived with his ma'sani, his grandmother in the Four Corners in the Navajo Nation on the reservation? So begins the story of James Redtree, a Navajo man who is transformed into a dog by his grandmother's curse. "You have forgotten the ways of the Din'e and that cannot be forgiven," she tells him. She isn't too happy about not having any great- grandchildren either. Doomed to wander the world as a dog until he finds a woman to love and believe in him, James ends up as Shadow, a huge, mixed breed mutt that looks like a wolf crossed with a pony and it's a short trip to the local Animal Shelter where he's scheduled to be euthanized.
Enter Angelina Dean, Jelly to her two best friends, who convince her that getting a dog for protection and companionship is the best thing to do. She's alone in the big old house her Grandmother left her since her husband of three years ran off with his personal trainer, Justin. "I guess my ex-husband, Douglas, took the whole 'buns of steel' thing a little too literally," Angelina mourns. Angelina is reluctant to take on such a big animal, having never been a 'dog person' but Shadow's sweet disposition wins her over. She takes him home and weird things start happening. Angelina can't figure out what's going on. Who ever heard of a dog that preferred salad to gourmet dog food? Or one who changes the station from Animal Planet to ESPN when she's out of the room? But what really disturbs her is the strange recurring dream she keeps having.
Who is the muscular Native American man who keeps appearing in her bed and why are the dreams so vivid? She is plagued by the idea that her dreamsare somehow tied to her new pet, Shadow, but that isn't possible, is it? Then on the last night of the full moon her dream man says something that haunts Angelina, "This is my last chance," he tells her. "I need you to believe in me." But can the practical Angelina do as he asks before its too late?

What I LIKED about this book.

This title was originally published in 2004. It was fun to go back a read her earlier work.

What I DISLIKED about this book.

She did a lot with 95 pages but I would have loved to see a full length novel. I am spoiled like that.

I love Evangeline Anderson's work. I am a big fan of her Kindred series and the Born to Darkness series. Anderson has a way of drawing the reader in even. I have been resistant to particular storylines in the past but always end on of her books glad I read it. One of the few authors that I will auto buy her work and read it regardless of the back blurb.

Evangeline had grown in her writing. Shadow Dreams was good, but not as good as her more current work. If you have never read anything by Evangeline, then I would suggest starting with one of her other books but for the fan it is a nice treat. You can see the roots of where we are today present in Shadow Dreams. I would adore it if she went back and expanded this story or created more. She is quite busy with many irons in the fire and honestly I would rather see another Kindred or Born of Darkness book.

Her I wanted to have a pity party of one when I went for that beer. I never imagined I would meet a dark and dangerous man. That man took me on the wildest ride of my life. Literally and Figuratively. He quickly became my entire world.

      Him
I didn't know I was looking for her. I saw her warming that bar stool and knew she would be mine. A man like me doesn't deserve the likes of her. But damned if I didn't take it.

      Her
When we met for the first time we didn't know that we already had a connection. A cruel game was being played, and we didn't know the rules. Sam would save us, but at what cost? Sam was one of my main reasons for living. If he wasn't in this world anymore, would I still want to be a part of it?

What I LIKED about this book.

Cheyenne and Ember are split your sides hilarious.

Oh yeah, and Sam. (SO much Sam.)

      MMMMmmm, Sam.

What I DISLIKED about this book.

There are some editing issues but depending on what version you pick up I believe most of them have been addressed. Also, a little jumpy in some places moving from present to past.

Not the books fault, but I had nightmares over the bad guy and his treatment of two key females characters. He was meant to be vicious and scary. Yep, achievement unlocked.

      Full Review

Sure, there are quite a few motorcycle club books out right now. I like MC books. Boomtown has so, so, so much more to it than this. The MC is so minor in comparison. Love at first sight. Hot, alpha male, motorcycle guys/special forces eye candy. Strong heroines. Hilarity. So much going for this debut by author Lani Lynn Vale. The dialogue between the characters is probably my favorite thing about this author. She captures so much about the characters in even the most benign conversation.

The evil ex, well I just wanted someone to make her disappear. No spoilers, but I felt really crappy about that later. She was a serious dumb ho, though. That is my defense and I will stick to it.

Cheyenne and Ember shopping for condoms is one of my favorite scenes. These two can play off each other in such a way as to be considered an art. The poor school teacher they meet in the store, she will never be the same.

The chemistry between Sam and Cheyenne, fireworks. I read one review that criticized Sam's quick progression of the relationship with Cheyenne. I have to say, I do not think Sam has ever not gone in with both feet, judging by his character. He is a gung ho, balls to the wall kind of guy. He gives 110% or nothing and expects the same in return. Sam is funny, confident, sexy, and all alpha.

All nonsense and fangirling aside, I really did enjoy this book. Yes, there are some errors. I hope it does not stop you from giving it a chance.

Twenty-five-year-old Tristan Doran enjoys a life of incredible power and privilege. As a direct descendant of the Keepers—witches who have embraced dark magic—he defers to no one but his overlord, Lord Bosque Mar. For most of his life, Tristan has been kept out of the centuries-old Witches War, his bloodline too valuable to risk in battle.

But when a beautiful, young human Searcher named Sarah is captured and made a prisoner in his Irish castle, Tristan’s infatuation with her flings him headlong into the fray. Captive and captor, unable to contain their longing, embark on a passionate, forbidden romance together—only to learn that their love is at the heart of a prophecy predicting the downfall of the Keepers’ ages-old reign.

Captive explores the darker side of the richly imagined Nightshade universe, a fantasy world of powerful dark witches, shape-shifting wolf warriors, and fascinating history. The first of three erotic novels, Captive delves deeply into the fiery, illicit romance of two young lovers whose very desires invite their doom.

What I LIKED about this book.

Romeo and Juliet style love without the double suicide!

What I DISLIKED about this book.

I would have liked to see more of what happens next when the book ended.

      Full Review

Birth and destiny. Sarah and Tristan are born on opposite side of a long standing war between the witches. Sarah is on the side of good, Tristan is expected to lead the forces of evil one day. We do not always fit the molds our elders want us to.

Of course I was hoping Sarah and Tristan would make it work but now a days, you are not guaranteed a HEA. I really enjoyed Sarah and Tristan. Him more than her. Tristan is a very intriguing fellow. Several characters were not who they appeared to be, nice character development.

        Fear is sabotage’s sweetest weapon.

Kate has no time for meaningless romantic charades, and definitely no time for hot college professors who are full of themselves and smitten with her. Constantly battling eviction notices, tuition she can’t afford, and a sick, dependent mother, the last thing she needs is to be distracted with someone else’s complicated baggage.

When she stumbles into Ryan Campbell’s creative writing class, he is only “Mr. Campbell” to her, until Ryan finds himself captivated by her writing and she is forced to face their mutual attraction. His cocky know-it-all syndrome is enough to send her running in the other direction, and his posse of female admirers and playboy reputation are enough to squander any odds in her favor.

But underneath Ryan’s abrasive facade is something to behold, and she can’t stay away for long. Ryan and Kate must decide who they’re willing to become and fight against their former selves if they want to make things work. That’s if academia, vicious vixens, old skeletons, and their own mastery at self-destruction don’t pummel their efforts first.

What I LIKED about this book.

They acted like adults and took a step back instead of letting things get toxic.

What I DISLIKED about this book.

That was some shady business on Ryan's part at the publisher.

        Full Review

The book starts with a little back story on Ryan, the hero. I was glad for this back story because it prevented me from thinking he was a complete jerk. He's wounded, allowed himself to go down some less than stellar roads, and is finally ready to turn himself around. Kate has so much heaped on her shoulder she doesn't have time to play patch up the poor professor. The heart wants what the heart wants and you can only resist for so long. I was proud of how honest Ryan was with Kate.

Kate made mistakes too, some that cost her personally more than Ryan's mistakes cost him. Near the end I was a little afraid I was not going to get my HEA but the author pulled it out of her hat perfectly.

In the epic battle of vampire against vampire, one warrior's fate is bound to a mortal woman who controls him, commands him, and craves him like no other…

        Chained For Life

Two years ago, the rogue vampires invaded Lily Haven's home and kidnapped her son. Now, if she hopes to see her child again, she must do the unthinkable—bind herself, body and soul, to a vampire warrior. She must choose one of the rogue army's prisoners of war and force him to do her bidding. But when she sees the warrior, Adrien, naked, beaten, and straining against his chains, it is she who is held captive…

        Hungry For More

Adrien has been waiting for her. A beautiful woman who appears to him in visions. Who soothes his tortured body, feeds his erotic cravings—and quenches his thirst for blood. But Lily is more than he ever hoped for. She is the master of his destiny, and he is her willing slave. Even when she asks him to find the ultimate weapon for his enemies, he must obey her. Even if the task destroys them both, he will fight for her love, forever…

What I LIKED about this book.

I expected that Adrien would fight being bound to Lily, which would have been stupid since the alternative was torture for eternity. He's smarter than I thought he was.

What I DISLIKED about this book.

Some plot lines could have been wrapped up sooner and other explored more deeply. I expect I will see that more as the series progresses.

        Full Review

This is the first book in a new vampire series by Caris Roane. First books always mean introduction to the new world. You have to learn if the vampires are born or made, can they reproduce, do they have destined mates, all that jazz. There was not a ton of new material to learn to get current in Roane's world. I appreciate the simplicity.

Adrien was a gentleman, considering all he has been through lately. I was afraid he might try to devour Lily from lack of blood, but he restrained himself. He never gave her too much lip even when he thought she agreed to the mission for money. That is so far from why Lily signed on. As a mother, I could identify with Lily. If she did not have so much at stake, she probably would have given up several times.

I enjoyed the book. I liked the way the book wrapped up. Had a solid HEA for Adrien and Lily while setting up the next book.
