Warning: Condoms were tested and a few harmed during the writing of this story.

It's not every day a girl inherits a condom company, and to say accountant Alice Beasley is astonished and out of her depth is putting it mildly. For an almost virgin, she needs a quick education in all things condom because her inheritance is in danger. Someone is intent on sabotage and trying to destroy her new company. Alice is suddenly getting down and dirty with charismatic James, the factory manager, all in the name of business, testing new condom designs. The sex is hot. Mind-blowing. It's a dark thrill and an erotic journey. Yeah, it's a hard job, but a girl's got to do what a girl's gotta do. Alice wants James. She craves his talented touch and sultry kisses, she desires passion and physical pleasure on a permanent basis but first she must convince bad-boy James to give up his fancy-free ways.

What I LIKED about the book.

Had some steamy sex.

What I DISLIKED about the book.

Excessive time jumping, flat characters, thin plot.

Where I got it from.

I received this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Review

The plot has a great deal of potential. An almost virgin inherits a condom company. I fully expected hilarity to ensue. It did not. Alice, the heroine, is ready to explore her sexuality and chooses James, the manager, to help her. She assumes that a man who works in a condom company and is attractive must get a lot of sex. He was annoyed by this yet still engages in the no strings attached sex she accused him of having before. They end up partnering to test the new line of condoms. Alice and James do not talk much except to further misunderstand each other. I applaud Alice for wanting to give the company an honest try and make it successful again, but she is an accountant who suddenly is thrust into the management role for an entire company. A company that is already in some financial trouble. Now is the best time to stick someone with no experience in running a business or condoms in the lead role.

Sex is hot and I love a good romp, but a sense of humor is a must. R.L. Mathewson is a riot. The dialogue frequently has me in stitches. So what have we learned in Playing for Keeps?

Sleeping is not more important than hot sex.
He glared accusingly at her while he made short work of his clothes. "You didn't wake me up."She rolled her eyes as she speared a piece of sausage with her fork. "I did wake you up. Three times in fact. Each time you threw something at me and went back to sleep."Jason gaped at her. "And you gave up? You know our routine, woman. You have tokeep at it until I'm forced to get off the bed to find something to throw at you.”
Wake up!

If you like it then a better put a ring on it.
Married?" she practically screeched, not sounding all that pleased, which left him feeling a little offended. "We're not getting married."
He snorted at that. "I may have let you have your naughty little way with me for the past couple of months, but that doesn't mean I'm going to allow you to keep treating me like some dirty little boy toy. If you want to live with me then I expect you to put a ring on my finger," he said, holding up his left hand and wiggling his ring finger to punctuate his words.

Kiss the Bride by Jody Wallace.

Publisher Description

Herman Edward Heckley knows all about drywall, concrete, and nail guns. So what's he doing fighting off taffeta in a bridal salon? He's maid of honor for his best friend, Caroline Oakenfeld, in her wedding to a pencil-necked geek. But the closer he gets to the ceremony, the more he wonders if he's been missing out all this time. Caroline has been missing out, and she knows it. Shes been in love with Heck forever, but frittering her life away until Heck wises up isn't part of her life plan. She's agreed to marry her boyfriend so she can move on with her life. But the closer she gets to the ceremony, the more she realizes she has to resolve her feelings for Heck. For better or for worse.

Review

Heck (it is his nickname) and Caroline have been best friends for their whole life. Caroline is to be married Dan. Dan is not the man of her dreams, but she no longer wants to wait for him that guy to show up. Caroline wants to be a mother and have a family before life gets away from her. Dan is the solution. Heck is Caroline's maid of honor. This plot point is humorous. Heck has no idea what a maid of honor's duties are. He does not even want Caroline to marry Dan. Heck is quickly waking up to how deep his feelings for Caroline run as she prepares to walk down the aisle. There is not much time left, so Heck and Caroline had better get moving!

The characters were frustrating in their stubbornness. Not frustration where I did not like them, but rather the kind I wanted to take them aside and have a chat. Always a good sign when I start talking to the characters in the book. Yes, I wanted Heck and Caroline to lay the cards on the table. Putting your heart in the hands of someone else is frightening. What if they reject you? What if he/she does not want to be more than friends? I understand the desire to feel the situation out. Knowing this did not make me want to throttle Heck or Caroline any less when I was afraid they were going to mess up my happily ever after.

One character I did want to hit was Lisa. When you read the bachelorette party scene, you will see Lisa. What is the most annoying sound in the world? Lisa talking. Again, I think the author intended this.

OMG, shut up Lisa!

Goodreads Description

Book #3 in reading order of events in book series, per author

There are things in bassist Jace Seymour’s past that he is unwilling to share with anyone. To cover his guilt and anguish, he seeks dominatrix Mistress V (Aggie) to temporarily placate his inner turmoil.
Aggie doesn’t have much use for men–besides the power rush she gets when they’re begging for mercy at her feet–but Jace isn’t like her usual clients. His cool defiance and unexpected dominance in the bedroom drives her to distraction and quickly steals her heart. When circumstances threaten Jace’s position in Sinners, Aggie must help him regain his rightful place in the band while showing him that time and love can heal all wounds.

I just started reading the Sinners om Tours series. I am in the middle of book two. This book is next in the series and has the hottest cover of all of them. Look at them! Yeah, baby. Kind of makes you want to jump the nearest willing male.

That's What He Said Thursday 3

Goodreads Description

“There is a vulnerability there, hovering just below the surface. And I want to pick at it until I expose it. Then I want to kiss it."

Two years ago, Emily Burnham had an epiphany about the shallowness of her life. And she made it her mission to become a different person…a better woman. Out from under the controlling thumb of her mother, Emily is tasting the real world for the first time. And she likes it. Nixon Caldwell has served his time in the Marine Corps, surviving two brutal tours in Afghanistan. He is back home, surrounded by what he likes best…isolation. It's certainly the best way to avoid confrontation of the consuming guilt that is weighing him down. When an accident brings Emily and Nix together, he soon learns he is not the master of his own fate. Struggling with his own pain, Nix tries to guard himself against Emily’s charms. He wants her in his bed, but he doesn’t want her in his heart. Having grabbed life by the horns, Emily wants it all. But is she willing to accept just the small part of himself that Nix is offering? Can she reach the part of his soul that he has deemed to be Off Limits?

That's what he said.

The beautiful Rose and Julie make up the daring duo over at Chapter Break. This is their weekly thing, I think it's neat. So here I am.

Nix can be a bonehead. He is dealing with some personal demons and prefers solitude. Emily is not sure half the time if she wants to get to know him or dury him under the house.
“He smirks at me and it makes me want to slap his face. No, kiss his face. Wait...definitely slap his face.” -Emily

Nix doesn't want to want Emily. She comes crashing into his life, literally. Nix has to come to terms with his guilt and the traumas of war he suffered as a Marine. Once he realizes life with Emily is infinitely better than life without her, he as some serious decisions to make.
“She's shown me the path to my own salvation and I am finally strong enough to walk it.”

Nix can be rude and abrupt. He speaks his mind and doesn't care if you like it or not. He can shred you with a sentence, or make you feel like the most cherished treasure in the world.
“There's nothing else to say right now. I love you, baby, more than life itself. And the greatest thing about it....our happiest days are still to come.”

Goodreads Description

Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.
Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.
But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?

Wait For You is the first book in the Wait For You series by Jennifer L. Armentrout writing as J.Lynn. Cam is the guy all the girls want. Smart, funny, and blessed with the genes of Adonis. Avery is anti-men for good reason. She is not looking for a man because they spell t-r-o-u-b-l-e. Avery attempts to avoid Cam and pretend she is not interested in him. Jacob, Avery's sassy gay friend, points out her error.
I’m just not interested.”
“Do you have ovaries?” Jacob asked.
I shot him a look. “Yes.”
… “Then how are you not interested.

Everyone loves this man. He is the big man on campus. Men want to be his friend. Women want to date him. He has serious presence.
“People got out of the way for Cam. He was like a hot Moses, parting a sea of drunk college students.”
Besides being hot and smart, Cam is a riot. He cracked me up the whole book. He knows he is something special and instead of coming off as arrogant, he comes off as playful.
“You are really…”“Amazing? Awesome?” He paused, brows raised. “Astonishing?”“I was going to go with bizarre.”“Well, hell, if I had feelings that might actually hurt.”
He really wants to give a relationship with Avery a shot. He is not willing to take "not right now" as an answer. How do you get a girl that says she isn't interested to change her mind? Inject yourself into her life.

“Cam was already on his feet, waiting for me. I arched my brow at him. "Following me?"
"Like a true serial killer," he replied.”
Because this is a romance novel, things do eventually go Cam's way. Though not how Avery imagined her first interlude with Cam, she drunkenly propositions him. Good guy that he is, he lets her down easy.

“Did last night really happen?" One side of his lips tipped up, and my chest swelled. I'd missed that smile. "Depends on what you think happened."
"I took my shirt off for you?"
His eyes deepened. "Yes. Lovely moment.”
Yes, Cam is exy, hot, funny, smart, but also romantic, sweet, and adorable. My favorite Cam line is.....

I have hope because I love you – I’ve been in love with you, Avery. Probably before I even realize that I was

Lusting for Covers - Sexy Sunday Fun 2

Goodreads Description

A couture wedding dress designer to the rich and famous, Lexi LaCroix’s image means everything. But crossing paths with a sexier-than-sin, bad-boy biker makes Lexi realize how much living she’s sacrificed for her success and one touch is all it takes to threaten her carefully choreographed life. When that touch fills far more than just Lexi’s physical needs, she finds herself torn between the career she needs and the bad-boy she craves.
Jax Chamberlin gave up the superficial life of acting for the thrill of running his own stunt company years ago. But a recent betrayal proves he’s still too close to the limelight to find a woman who doesn’t plan to use him as a stepping-stone to success. When the charming and mysterious Lexi offers him a totally anonymous hook-up during an out of town trip, Jax accepts. Only Lexi is more sextacular than charming, and Jax wants more.
But Lexi’s got a major hang-up over his renegade lifestyle, and Jax isn’t willing to change his ways. Especially not when he discovers who she really is. Because if she finds out his connections could catapult her to the top of her career, he’s afraid the fantasy woman he’s falling for might just end up like all the other gold-diggers. And this time, it’s not just his bad-boy reputation at risk, but his heart, too.

Why I Chose It

That shoulder should be outlawed. It is just too sinfully delicious. Jax is 100% rocking this cover. His shoulder is stealing the show. You have to admit, it is an awesome shoulder. Okay, enough about the shoulder.

Hot man shoulder.

I'm done for real this time.

I saw this cover on Novel Reflections. The plot sounds like something I would read. I plan to check it out once it releases. I asked the author if she knew a date, but they have not told her anything. Goodreads lists the publication date as August. When it drops, I will give a shout out on the blog's Facebook page

You is smart, You is Kind, You is Important.

This woman is beautiful.

Beauty is not a dress size. It is not defined by how small or large your waist measures. Maybe you have dangerous curves, maybe you don't. Maybe you are svelte, maybe you aren't. Who is to say you are or are not beautiful?

This woman is beautiful, too.

Beauty is not the number on your scale. This is a reflection of fat, muscle, water, and clothing on your body. This number might indicate your health, but it is only a factor. If a body builder stands on the scale, their BMI and weight will technically label them as overweight. The scale is unreliable. Think of it as the backstabbing best friend you had but could never figure out why you kept around. She lies to you and about you.

You are the person closest to you. You have the most influence on you. Do not tell yourself that you are dumb, or ugly, or unworthy. It isn't true. We are all beautiful to someone. To someone we mean the world. If even one person feels that way about you, doesn't that count for something? Can't YOU love yourself? There is a difference between loving yourself and being a narcissist. It really is okay to love you for you.

Me, well I am not a skinny girl. I have skinny friends that I love. I have overweight friends that I love. My friends love me. My kids think I am beautiful. My husband thinks I am sexy. These are the things I remind myself when I want to fall into the pit of despair over my appearance. Am I perfect? Far from! I have gobs of flaws, and that is okay.
Shape, color, level of education, and any other things you can use to talk yourself down, let it go. You are you and you are speacil.
"Be yourself, everyone else is taken." -Oscar Wilde

"That's What He Said" Thursday 2

Amanda: "I thought only a wooden stake through the heart killed a vampire."
Kyrian: "A wooden stake through the heart will kill just about anything. And if it doesn't, run like hell."
Goodreads Decription

The Dark-Hunters are ancient warriors who have sworn to protect mankind and the fate of the world is in their hands. . .

Dear Reader,
Have you ever wanted to know what it's like to be immortal? To journey through the night stalking the evil that preys on humans? To have unlimited wealth, unlimited power? That is my existence, and it is dark and dangerous. I play hero to thousands, but am known to none. And I love every minute of it.
Or so I thought until one night when I woke up handcuffed to my worst nightmare: a conservative woman in a button-down shirt. Or in Amanda's case, buttoned all the way up to her chin. She's smart, sexy, witty, and wants nothing to do with the paranormal-in other words, me.
My attraction to Amanda Devereaux goes against everything I stand for. Not to mention the last time I fell in love it cost me not only my human life, but also my very soul. Yet every time I look at her, I find myself wanting to try again. Wanting to believe that love and loyalty do exist.
Even more disturbing, I find myself wondering if there's any way a woman like Amanda can love a man whose battle scars run deep, and whose heart was damaged by a betrayal so savage that he's not sure it will ever beat again.
-Kyrian of Thrace
Amanda: "Oh God, I just kissed a vampire!"
Kyrian: "Oh Gods, I just kissed a human!"

The second book in the popular Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. To date, there are twenty-nine books in the Dark Hunter universe. I have read twenty-six. Of all the heroes I have read, Kyrian of Thrace sticks out in my mind as the best. He's funny, sexy, and a lethal warrior. An alpha male that manages to stay in charge without being a bossy pain in the butt. Amanda complicates things for Kyrian. He was happy to spend the rest of his immortality killing Daimons. Now, he is questioning his choices. As one of the original Dark Hunters, ( correct me if I am wrong) he has been doing this gig for a long time. He has never complained about wanting more. Amanda changes everything.

Amanda: "You're a Dark Hunter."
He (Kyrian) kissed her lightly on the lips. "What I am is a man in love with a woman. I want you, Amanda. For the rest of my blessedly short mortal life. I want to wake at dawn with you in my arms and watch our children play and fight.”
